Folks,

Are there any of you planning on riding on Thursday that could show a visitor the backroads out of town? I've found a place to rent (Treads will rent me a LeMond for $20 a day) and plan to ride approximately 2 hours a day until I leave the area on Tuesday. My time will be very flexible on Thursday, but I'll have to wait until the shop opens to get the bike.

I'm not looking to conquer any mountains while I'm out there. Since my transportation sources will be rather limited it would be best if I could find a way to ride from the hotel out of town. This would go over best with the inlaws (they might prefer I got hit....). I'm not a racer, but have the ability to keep up with the 'A' group on local rides. I'm not sure how the altitude will affect me and I am coming off a couple of hard weeks.

If any of you are planning on riding Thursday and feel like helping a visitor out, please let me know. If there's a planned ride from somewhere close please let me know where/when and I'll try to find my way there. Look for the guy in the jerseys from events in the Carolinas.......

Thanks!

There is a good possibility for you in Boulder on Thursday, Gregory, if you can get there. The Denver Bike Touring club has a ride every Thursday at 6 PM. It is typically 25-35 miles all on nicely paved roads around Boulder at an intermediate road pace (15-16 mph). A great friendly group of people (average turnout perhaps 12 to 15). Ride gets back just before dusk and there is a group dinner afterwards at l nearby Mexican restaurant. They would welcome you. I would normally attend, but am going down to Taos on Thursday for 4 days of riding.

The ride meets at Scott Carpenter Park. From Westminster, take Hwy 36 to Boulder. This will turn into 28th St. Take a right (East) on Arapahoe Ave. at the stop light. Go a couple of blocks and take another right (South) on 30th St. The park is on this corner and the entrance is a right turn perhaps 150 ft. from the intersection. Find a place to park. You will see the ride starting from the parking lot. Hope you can make it!
