View Full Version : Liar, Liar, pants on fire!!! Bocephus Jones II 06-16-2005, 11:09 AM Bush lied, people died... http://www.cnn.com/2005/POLITICS/06/16/downingst.memo.ap/index.html Gripped 06-16-2005, 11:29 AM Bush lied, people died... I'm a little bored of the Downing St. memo. I've done a minor amount of digging into some media reports leading up to the invasion and the prevailing attitude was that we were going to invade Iraq. The administration floated some justifications but I think they were just going through the motions. Since they are pols, they aren't going to admit to cooking the books -- but wink, wink, nudge, nudge -- and off we go. Bush made up some little fibs about how dangerous Saddam was and Cheny insinuated that Iraq was linked to al Quaida and 9/11. Big deal. They sure did tell us up front that we were going to invade Iraq. H-E double hockey sticks, people wanted to believe the tripe they were feeding us. Yeah, a little war to show the world who's on top. If we didn't care back then, why do you believe that we'll care now? Democracy is dead in the US. What we have here is the rise of the demagogues. I guess what we need is interns giving the president BJs to get Americans outraged these days. Starting a war based on willful deception doesn't seem to get anyone's blood pressure up. pedlfoot 06-16-2005, 12:24 PM I guess what we need is interns giving the president BJs to get Americans outraged these days. Starting a war based on willful deception doesn't seem to get anyone's blood pressure up. ...BJ's are immoral.Wars are not. atpjunkie 06-16-2005, 01:46 PM but an invasion. preemptive defense is clearly ruled out by now. magnolialover 06-16-2005, 02:14 PM Bush lied, people died... http://www.cnn.com/2005/POLITICS/06/16/downingst.memo.ap/index.html But see the difference here is that Bush didn't lie under oath, and probably isn't getting any BJs from Laura or anyone else for that matter, under the Oval Office's desk, so it doesn't matter that we've wasted how many American, Iraqi, and other lives on this war? How many billions of dollars have we spent? How many billions more will we spend? I'm pretty sure that money could have been used to better effect somewhere else in the homeland here. So the mantra is: War? Hell, here's some money. Social programs? We don't have any money in the budget for that. atpjunkie 06-16-2005, 02:24 PM what 500 billion in work programs, health care, incentives for non oil using transportation development, highways, police and firefighters, etc..... When a vegetative Terry Schiavo could beat them in a game of tic-tac-toe what else would you expect but the war option? |
