G'day,
I've got myself 2 sets of wheels now - one for racing (American Classic 420's) and the stock wheels (Bontrager Race Lites).
What experiences have others had in regard to spacing differences when using different wheels? I think there is a difference between where the cassette sits in relation to the deralier with the 2 wheel sets as both cassettes are new and both DA 9sp.
Anyone had a similar problem?

Haven't noticed a diff between 420's and Record hubs. 420 rims are slightly narrower than Open pros so I need to tighten down the brakes a bit.

Sometimes there are indeed slight difference between wheels. For instance my Record hubs align slightly different compared to Mavic FTS-L.

Not familiar with your hubs, but if they have spacers you can change them out (or add/subtract) to make them the same. You then need to re-dish the wheel. You can also add a thin spacer to the inside of the cassette for the one that sits in more than the other.

wow...thats a new one to me. you saying that the guy has to re-dish the wheel each time he swaps one out for the other even though he shimano hubs on each wheel? im not a mechanic, but that seems like a lot of unnecessary work just to switch wheels. only wheel ive ever come across that uses a spacer is mavic.

Re-dishing would only be required once, when the axle is re-spaced. What the post refers to is re-spacing the hub's position on the axle, basically moving the hub left or right on the axle to get the cogs in the same position as the other wheel. When you do this, the rim will now be off center - thus the need to re-dish.
Once this is done, there should be no need to re-dish again. It's pretty much a permanent fix to the problem.
