For those interested, I built a couple rides using the GMAP PedometerGMAP Pedometer (http://www.sueandpaul.com/gmapPedometer/) , a neat hack that lets you share maps, with distances, using Google Maps.
My collection is here on my blog. Map page (http://www.churbuck.com/wordpress/?page_id=151)
There are also very cool Tour de France stage maps built ontop of Google Earth. You need to visit GoogleEarthHacks and search around for what a user named Nagoyan created.

Somehow I think something is going to replace cue sheets and something along these lines may be it.

the GMAP pedometer is an awesome online tool. I got that link a few weeks ago and use it to map the mileage for my running. the accuracy is amazing.
do you know if it takes into account altitude changes? i've been using it for runs < 20 mi and it seems ok but the area is flat. over a long bike ride with a few climbs i'd think there would be significant error buildup.
the only similar tool i know of is klimb. it's pretty good.

most of the maps are for the san francisco area & ohio but you can make your own maps if you've got the time...

The GMAP Pedometer falls down if you try to map really long, complex rides. I tried to build out a 140-mile route around Cape Cod and hosed my laptop's memory.
Also, cannot figure a way to generate a text-cue sheet from the way-points.

I'm going up to Acushnet (outside New Bedford) for a wedding and am spending a couple extra days to hang. I'm looking for more routes as I'm getting sick of all the roads in SE Mass. Nobody seems to ride a bike in that area. I'm looking forward to checking out the cape this time.....

The Narragansett Bay Wheelmen have some cue sheets for that part of the world. I used to do a lot of riding in and around Plymouth-Carver -- nice roads, albeit a little flat and boring with tons o' scrub pines and cranberry bogs.

There is a MUT outside of Fairhaven to Mattapoisett -- have not tried it myself being unfond of rollerbladers and golden retrievers with a deathwish.
If I had just one ride it would be my Upper Cape Metric Century. This (http://tinyurl.com/8j2vx) is a good one.
