Does anyone have insight about Lances wheel selsection for the TT stage today? I noticed that most riders are using a solid disc rear wheel. Lance is using what apears to be a three or four bladed carbon rear wheel. Why do you think this is?

Control. The solid wheel gives you less control because of the air pushing you side to side.

True, but it wasn't because of the wind in this case.
It was a very twisty TT course. The rear 3 spoke wheel corners a little better than a solid disc, at the expense of a little bit of aero advantage.

There were several other riders that didn't opt for the standard TT disc. The reason for that is they are stiff... very stiff, which makes tight corners (unusual for TT) a bear to make. Case in point, the Chicken on the roundabout. With a "normal" wheel (vs. a solid disc) he might have made that turn... he might not have fried (or at least sunnysided up, scrambled, etc.) his brain and the outcome could have been different.
Lance knew what to expect, so he went with a setup that works for those conditions. Looks like it paid off for him, ya think???
