I happen to be a member of BJ's Wholesale Club. My wife does most of the shopping but I happened to be in there over the weekend. I went in the nutrition section and was pleasantly surprised to find great deals. If you are into PowerBar, Clif Bar, etc. it is worth looking into. I scored some bars at below 50% of their retail. The prices significantly beat the lowest on-line prices I could find.
I left with PowerBar Protein bars for $14/box assorted flavors. These retail for $30 and the lowest on-line price is $20 not including shipping.
I also got some Clif Bars at the same price.
Selection may be hit-or-miss but at these prices I'm willing to experiment.

Are you talking about boxes of 12 bars or 24 bars?

Yeah...you gotta know what the stuff goes for though. Not all of the stuff you get from Costco et al is a great deal. I usually buy Premier Nutrition's Protein bars from Costco. They work out to about $.80 apiece--much less than Power bar's version--and less carbs too. A box of Clif bars can regularly be had at Performance on sale for around $12/box. I also buy protein powder for $18 for a 6 pound tub from Costco. Great deal.

$14 for 12 Clif bars is not a great price. My local Costco sells boxes of 24 for $18 or $19 (mix of 3 flavors). Also, my local Trader Joes (food store) sells them for $0.97 each (more choice of flavors).

BJ's also has granola bars cheap in bulk. I buy a 32-count box of the Nature Valley fruit and nut bars for $6.99, which is less than a quarter a piece. They also package up a 3lb bag of nice dried fruit mix for a similar price. Both make good snacks for biking. I've choked down so many Clif Bars and PowerBars over the years, I almost can't eat them any more. I've been going for less processed foods. The NV granola bars are less processed than most. They have big chunks of fruit and nuts held together with a little corn syrup.

I saw some fat guy buying a 40lbs bag of pork rinds...he seemed very happy.
