Back on a Road Bike after a few years of nothing. I've been doing 15-20 mile training rides near my house (generally working up for the MS150 next April) but was wondering if anyone here knows of groups riding regularly in the Humble/Kingwood area.

...but better late than never I guess
I ride in the Woodlands and though this is more North than Northwest, there is very good cycling club out here; The Woodlands Cycling Club with rides a few times a week. Also check out NorthWest Cycles shop, they have a few rides

Kinda the same thing with me. Been off the bike for a few years but getting back into it. Do you live in Kingwood? Used to live there a while back and graduated from KHS. Was riding back then, maybe we've run across from each other.
My parents still live in KW. I'll have to remember you next time we go up there. I'm always looking for someone to ride with up there.

I live in KW. If you are looking for a hammer fest, take no prisoners, drop the new guy ride, then ride with the Kingwood Clippers leaving from 4500 Kingwood Drive at 0730 Sat/Sun. . Weekday rides are a little more tame.
If you are looking for a slower pace, ride with the QLS groups on West Lake Houston Parkway

Thanks, I will try that. Man how things change. There weren't any bike clubs when I was there. I think I heard a little about a club right before I kinda stopped riding. Shoulda never stopped. Used to work at Spoke World on 1960. Used to ride all over KW and 494. Fond memories. Back when the bike shop on 494 was still there. Thanks!

That is Jerry Turner's shop, or was. Jerry is a different kinda dude. He opens an shop, runs it for a few months, then goes on a bike ride for a few months. One day I went to his shop and he had a sign on the door that said, "Closed. Riding across America. Be back in 5 months."
His brother used to run Shirar's bike shop at 2901 Fannin in Midtown. Their father opened that bike shop in the early 1920's. It was the oldest bike shop in Houston.

I remember his name being Jerry, but I didn't know that about their father. Pretty cool. I used to ride over there in the late 80's and raced out at Alkek quite a bit. Bet we ran into each other.
