I'm looking to swapping to a 10spd. configuration. Ultegra 12-25 is around 50-60 dollars and the Dura Ace one is around 140 dollars. Can you actually feel the difference? I know that the weight differs from about 30-40 grams, but is it worth the 140?
Thanks guys

Can't speak with regard to the 10 speed but with the 9 speed I was unable to feel any performance difference between the 9 speed Ultegra and the 9 speed Dura-Ace. In my opinion, save the cash and get the Ultegra

Unless it is totally impossible for you to drop 30-40 grams off your body weight. My D/A casssettes only last 5,000 miles at most, Ultegra last 10-15,000 miles.
Cost per mile;
D/A $140/5,000miles= $0.028
Ultegra $60/10,000= $0.006
Something to think about anyway.

It is absolutely not worth $140. 30-40 grams is hardly more than an ounce. Do you think you will feel a difference of that amount?

My newly arrived Windsor bike came with the 10 speed Ultrega setup. While I'm far from a expert using friction shifters on my 20 year old Raleigh the Ultegra gearing worked flawlessly.During my initial 16 mile ride over varied flat and hilly areas I never missed a gear change. Even going up a hill just a flick of either the brake lever or the lever under the brake produced smooth changes. I never thought I needed 20 gears, and I probably don't but maybe with the cogs being so close together makes it easier for the system to work. As far as the additional ounce or so you can probably make it up somewhere else.
