I finally got my Shogun TT bike pieced together. I'm still scouring Ebay for DA 7400 parts to complete it, but I managed to scrape some crappy parts up in the parts bin to get her running.

I'm amazed at how fast it is. My body definitely isn't used to the "aero" position though. I'm using this bike for a sprint distance Tri in a few weeks, so it'll take a bit to get used to. My body tires differently on this than on my road bike. When I get back on the road bike (a 50cm Cannondale CAAD5) I feel like i have all the cockpit room in the world.

Once the tri is over, the Air Strykes come off, the Mavic cowhorns go back on, and she'll be back to original condition. I'm very psyched to have found one of these in a small size with all kinds of DA parts (seatpost/stem/derailleurs). It's a really cool piece of cycling history, methinks.

Now that is one sexy bike!!!!

I have 3 of 'em.... Love them all.

My only suggestion... Take the aero bar off. Just a preference, but I think you may find that you are actually faster without it.

Now, find a disk and show up at next weeks club ride...Weeeeee!!!

As soon as the tri is over, it's going back to Mavic cowhorns. The jury is still out on the aero bars, so they may come off before then anyway.

I have an older HED disc waiting for a freewheel that is going on the bike. It's going to be sweet. As soon as I find my straight block on eBay I'll be golden.

I finally got some more period correct bits on it, namely the DA 7400 crankset, and put the Mavic cowhorns back on and ditched the aero bars. I wanted to put DA 7400 aero brake levers on it, but for what they're fetching on eBay, the 105s I had laying around will do just fine.

It's such an awesome ride. I wish the previous owner didn't debadge the whole thing. Anyone know a source for Shogun replacement decals? I'm thinking of having it resprayed anyway, might as well do it right.

There are bikes in my stable that get ridden much more than the Shogun, but she is my pride and joy. I got into riding when the funny bike was in its heyday, and always wanted one. Reality struck that I simply didn't have the use or money for one (it's hard to justify that expense when you're 14 and had a hard time scraping $$$ together for a road AND track bike). Now that I don't have to justify my purchases to anyone, I have one.

I think more than anything I enjoy the looks I get from the uninformed when I ride it around my township. People just aren't accustomed to seeing this kind of contraption.

I got the frame, front wheel, and assorted great bits for a steal on eBay last year (Mavic bars, DA stem/seatpost, RD, shifters included). It's taken a little while, but now it's pretty much correct. Maybe I'll find a period correct saddle to put in it, like a vetta or something.

Wasn't this the first bicycle to earn the title "Comfort Bike?" You might want to drop the bars A LITTLE just so you don't look like a Rivendell type.
