I have the cheaper aluminium atacs and I finally replaced my old cleats--the directions said to switch right and left to get an easier release, but I find the release is still quite a bit tighter than I like for cross--is there anything that can be done? I don't remember having this sort of problem in the past, this is my 5th. pair of these pedals and I have replaced a lot of cleats over the years without a problem--is it possible that these are not the correct cleat for this pedal? I figured all ATAC cleats were the same

Maybe the cleats are different for the newer pedals.

You could grind them down a bit, or purchase a "ground" set from Speedgoat. They work very well, and release is much easier. White Lightning lube might help a little, too.

"easier release" esentially translates to "less float". aka you don't have to twist as far to release. if there's too little float with your new sut up just try the cleats the regular way around.

Thanks, I ordered those speedgoat cleats yesterday, hopefully that will solve it.
