I was thinking about purchasing a Merckx Alu Cross. I don't have a LBS that carries the Merckx and the internet bike shops have not been able to answer the question. Does anyone know the standover height of a 58 cm alu cross?

but the TT is on the short side. good if you are leggy. funny cause Merckx Roadies are typically longish in the TT's his cxers are on the short side

I was in the market for an alucross for the past month, but gave up. The distribution was poor, and I could only find the old version. If you look at the merckx belgian website, they have the new version of the alucross, with 1' 1/8 steerer, carbon fork, and newer geometry (I was looking for a 54 tt. the newer geometry is 52x54, the old was 54x54). I e-mailed the merckx factory, and they said I could go to any merckx retailer and order one specially, but it would take 2 months. I called a larger merckx dealer, and they said realistically it would take 4 months, and because it was a "special" order, there would ,of course, be an upcharge. I ended up with a Fort Crossmax, 52x54,which arrived yesterday. Looks good for $699. columbus altec2, decent welds, very nice paint, carbon fork (alloy steerer). hope to build this week.

Should arrive appx 10/1. I'll need to do a quiock build to be racing that week. Stock was gone and the factory closes for TDF / July. I was told I'm now on the build list for my 58 and it should arrive on track for Oct 1. Let's hope. I too was offered the "lotto-domo" which was available, but don't care for the color nor the AL fork. I'll wait and hope your 4 months is just your dealer tempering expectations. I ordered July 1.

good luck, let us know when it comes in. Merckx should just sell direct. Their production is small enough to do that, and their retailers and distribution don't add anything to the equation. It would also make them more price competitive in road frames as well.

I was concerned about the TT and i know if's not perfect i'll end up selling the bike. Maybe, i'll consider one of the customer builders.
