Chicago, IL - August 16, 2005
After a three-year hiatus, Alex Wassmann has returned to SRAM to take on the role of Road Sponsorship Manager. His official start date was July 1, 2005, and he is directly involved in SRAM?s professional road team relationships throughout North America. He will be a member of SRAM?s Marketing and Communications (MarCom) team.
Wassmann says he ?looks forward to reconnecting with the hardest working and most enthusiastic group I?ve encountered in my 18 years of living with, about, and for bicycles.? Adding, ?I look forward to applying my technical and marketing skills to successfully launch our road component developments into the racing community; we are on the verge of many more great things.?
Wassmann?s original stint with SRAM began in 1994, conducting technical education clinics with IBD?s in the Southeastern U.S. In 1996 he began managing the dealer market services department. From 1999 to 2003, he took on the role of SRAM?s global race and sponsorship liaison, with the goal of growing their position as the industry?s service and innovation leader. Wassmann most recently worked with Carmichael Training Systems, the Sea Otter Classic, as well as several individual ventures.
?We are lucky to have Alex back in the fold, he brings unique skills to this position and we are certain he will continue to help us grow in a positive and meaningful way,? added SRAM?s Global Communications Manager, David Zimberoff.
Wassmann and his wife, Diane, reside and work in Redwood City, California. He can be reached at awassmann@sram.com or at 650-283-4733.
