I'm darn close to ordering a Flyte SRS-2 (Airbornes new name) but I'm right in between the 54cm and 56cm based on thier sizing proceedure.

So..... is it better to go smaller or larger? "She" may say bigger but I'm not sure. I'm riding a 56cm 1999 worn out Cannondale R500 that feels too long in the top tube now. I'd also like to be a bit more comfortable on the long rides. It's of course a traditional frame compared to the Flyte as more of a compact frame question. Which way to go?

Check the TT length. Airbornes have a comparatively long TT, which would probably put you in the smaller size.

You need to compare top tube length and seat tube angles on the frames. A steeper STA will make the effective TT length longer - a one degree increase in STA adds roughly 1 cm to the effective TT length when comparing two frames. You also need to be sure that any numbers you compare are on the same basis (center to center, center to top, etc.). As a side question, what stem length are you using on your current bike? If your current stem is on the short side (less than 10 cm?), then that points to the smaller frame. Also have to ask whether you could have adjusted stem length on your current bike to get a better fit, and then had a better basis on which to choose a new frame.

Don't know if you bought the SRS 2 yet or not but I got mine a couple of days ago....I also was riding a 'dale 56 cm frame and I went with the 54 cm on the Flyte and it fits very well...I had shortened my stem on the 'dale to 80mm and still felt to layed out for my preference....let me know how it goes
