Well, the wet weather will be starting shortly up here in the NorthWest and I'm lloking for a some tires with grip that can handle the pretty much constant rain.

So far the Michelin Pro Grip is looking to fit the bill.

Has anyone had any experience with these tires? Other suggestions?

I've been using Maxxis Hors Categorie tires for the last few months and must say they do quite well in the monsoonal downpours we get 'round Tucson. They feel much more secure in the rain than the Michelin Carbons I used prior. As a bonus, the tread on the Maxxis tires seems to be holding up as well as the Michelins did and also seems just as puncture resistant.

I bought some Maxxis Un Catergorie tires for my trip to Europe a couple of months ago. They feel very soft, but great in the wet stuff. I even did a rain ride where I got to ride wet cobblestones. I picked them up at Pricepoint for $9 each. I punctured one when I got home on a sheet metal screw that destroyed the tire (at 900 miles). They are not great feeling racing tires by any means -- but at less that $10 each they are a great rain tire. I'd pick some up for winter tires -- if we ever had any bad weather in the winter. ;)

The Detonators also look good. Durinf the off-season weight isn't as much of an issue and these tires may fit the bill better than the lighter, but less durable and more costly Pro Grips.

As I won't have a chance to try many tires before purchasing them please keep the feedback coming. What tires do you use in the wet and how well have they worked for you?

I'm a big fan of the Maxxis Detonators as training tires. I use them on both my bikes summer and winter - the tread really lasts and holds well when wet.

If you can scrounge up some of the old Michelin Axel Pro Winters they're a good cheap alternative to the new Pro Grips and handle great in cold/wet weather.
I got some last spring through La Bicicletta and only paid 150 bucks for a case of 10 in 700x23.
