A am looking for a set of training wheels and saw that Supergo has their Korso Wheelset on sale for $149. Does anyone have any experience with these or know who the actual manufacturer is (they kinda look like Neuvations)? I weigh about 180 and I am pretty easy on wheels. I am riding American Classic 350's right now and haven't had any issues, I just want to prolong their life. Obviously, I am not looking to drop a lot of coin for a training/winter wheelset, but I would like some decent performance/feel.

I ride with a guy that has them. He does not have any complaints about them except that they are not as light as he would like. Other than that, they have held up quite well.

I own them. I bought them for winter and commuting. They fit that purpose nicely. I busted up my race wheels in early August in a crit. So, I decided to give these wheels a go in a couple of races. To my surprise they are not bad. On the plus side they are very stiff and sprint well (I run them with very high spoke tension). To the negative they are not light. They weight almost the exact same as a OP/Ultegra combo I have. Once you get them spun up they seem to keep going. I have raced on the AM 350's and you will not like how much heavier these wheels are but you will notice they are a great deal stiffer and I would bet more durable.

I have the Neuvations - which are more or less the same thing. The weight is inline with Mavic Elites, but as you mentioned they roll forever. Once they spin up they maintain their speed really well. Very strong wheels too. I ran into the back of another rider and it only knocked my front wheel slightly out of true.

All the comments above are dead on. I bought the Korso's about a year ago for that price and use them on my training bike. Recently had the American Classic 350's but the hub crapped out on a ride and I had to walk about 3-4 miles back to the car,and this is after the recall was applied, but that's another story. Go ahead and get the Korsos, can't beat the price for decent wheelset for training.

BTW, I took the stickers off the wheels. I was told that this would void the warranty but I figured on $150 wheels who cares. For what it is worth I think taking the stickers off improved their apperance. Plus, I have never uderstood why I have to pay someone to advertise their product for them!

Hey,

How'd you remove the stickers from the rims? Did they peel off easily or did you use some sort of solvent?

If memory serves (it's been over a year) they peeled off fairly simply. They did leave a residue from the stickers that I used nail polisher remover on. That may or may not have been a good idea but it worked. The hardest part was getting the residue off the hubs because it was hard to reach.

I peeled the labels off of mine, and found they came off easily. I have broken one spoke this year (drive side rear). I replaced it with a standard spoke and, thus far, it has remained true. I am a bit on the large side (250), and have always been rough on my wheels, so I have no problem with busting a spoke now and then. It's just par for the course, or should I say, Korso. ;)

Thanks for all the input. I think I am going to pick them up. I don't have a spare set and my LBS has a 4 day turn around on truing wheels. With the AC 350's and a 4 day turn around, they will get lots of use in season too!

35 miles into today's century, my AC 350 sprints rear freehub gave out (going downhill!) I guess they don't have that recall taken care of after all. This was supposed to be the "new" rear hub. Unfortunately, the Korso's are out of stock right now and the latest date for them coming in is 8/5/05 so they haven't updated this in a while. I'm thinking about buying a set of Xero XR-1 off of Ebay. They are a buy it now for $180. Anyone have any experience with these? The recent reviews out here are good, but the ones from a couple years ago are not good at all. Have they changed anything in the design?

Just figured I would add to the above comments and agree- they roll along very nicely and the freehub is almost silent. Kinda makes them seem even faster? I have about 500 miles on mine and no problems. I almost can't tell the difference from these to my Ksyrium SL's (well, maybe I can in handling and climbing..). Especially since they cost a fraction of the price. I'm sure durability will not be such a close comparision, but what the heck, for the price they can die in a year and I won't care too much. On flat roads they are nice- good for a TT bike. Same here on the decals. First thing I did after removing them from the box- peeled them right off. I actually called Supergo and told them I broke a rear spoke and they sent me one of each for the rear (drive-side and non) just so had a spare. Probably a little un-ethical I guess, but now I have spares!

I use them for cross. I'm about 175 and not a hugely aggro rider. My original set ($149) was out of true after about 4 mos of racing last year. No biggie, I'd expect that. Then I broke a spoke a few months ago. The local Supergo fixed it for free. I also bought a 2nd set for $85 at a blowout sale at the end of last year. Not bad for 2 sets of wheels.

They are the same as the Neuvation. How do I know? I downloaded the bearing kit instructions from the Neuvation site. I bought the bearing kit from Supergo for half the cost. The instructions in the box were identical to Neuvation, word for word, including pics.

You can't beat the price that's for sure.
