I finally moved close enough to work to commute by bike (9 miles). Monday was my first opportunity. I made it about 30 seconds into my ride and "Pow!!!" flat tire. I put too much air in them :) I could have hopped on my other bike or repaired the tire but I was running late enough as it was.
I tried again the next day and didn't have any problems. It is a smooth and quick ride. Takes about 30 minutes each way which is perfect. Coming home there are a couple lights with three lane roads. I despise having to sit at a crosswalk waiting for pedestrian lights so usually am in the turn lanes along with the vehicle traffic but sometimes it's just too hard to get over from the shoulder into the turn lane and I deal with it.
First photo shows my rear flat on my first day trying to ride to work (I was having an awesome no flat streak too!). Second pic is a shot of my bike/clothes hanger in my cube. That's me wearing my helmet modeling for the camera. The bike is a little big but I can handle it :)
