I saw a bike that had the traditional brake levers, but an additional set up on the top of the bars. I have a Surly Crosscheck that I'd like to run this type of setup on for occassional offroad use. I haven't been able to find any info on them though. Anyone have any info? Thanks in advance.

I happened to notice these the other day while thumbing the Performance catalog:

Click picture 2 of 2 for a view of them on the bike. No experience with them, but they look pretty simple to install. Inexpensive, too.

My Specilaized Sequoia Elite (and, SFAIK, all the Sequoias) come with such brake levers installed. They work just fine, though I seldom need to use them. If they weren't so light I'd have the lbs take them off.

Nevermind--I see it says how to install on the product description. Thanks!

Both those look like them, but how do they work? Do you run two sets of cables or something else?

I put a set of the Tektro levers (I think they are the source for both the Performance and Nashbar models) on a 'cross bike a few years ago, and loved 'em so much that I installed them on nearly every other bike I have. I chose the Tektros because they were the least expensive, but they worked so well that I never bothered checking out any of the other brands. They're great when I'm on the dirt, or when I'm in traffic, as I can take a more upright position. I think they're the greatest single improvement I've ever made on a bike.
