Yes it's true, I'm getting a new ride shortly. Soon to be posted here in various commuting posts. Tonight I took a few photos to throw in my personal photo album so I can point to this bike, years from now and say: "Man... that was the best bike ever... so fun to ride.. I rode it to work every single day..." Then I imagine I'll rub my old sore knees and say... "I remember this one time.. I'm haulin' down St.Paul St... I've got a Mr.Coffee, some mini propane cylinders, and a hatchet in my messenger bag when this guy in a Ford Explosion pulls RIGHT out in front of me and I..... "

Anyway, yeah, a little lubby dubby photo action tonight.

Commute pics in the mornin',
Arby.

I like the first shot and the movement shots, the jury is still out on the sepia.

Seriously. I heart sepia photos. Sometimes I get caried away though and sepia tone everything... lol

Like the spinning crank shot. What kind of bike is that?

Thanks,

It's a Bianchi Pista. Love it!

Especially the juxtaposition of the in focus components with the out of focus components.
(did I just say juxtaposition?)
Go Bianchi!

Once again I am reminded that I have a totally irrational case of lust for a chrome Bianchi pista. Under 600 brand new and shiny. The only question is how I can get my wife, of the "fixed gears are stupid and you will kill yourself or at least blow your creaky old knees, and the next bike should be a tandem, fool" attitude that SHE wants one too.

Much like my desire to dine with snapdragon (for she knows how to eat), this one will probably go unfulfilled. As the buddhists say, the source of suffering is desire.

Stock gear ratio which I wouldn't change for the world. It's perfect!

When I got to the picture of the oury grip I was thinking: "now, how is he going to make that one move?" Really enjoyed your pictures.

Why do you run such narrow bars? Do you have very narrow shoulders?

Ah, I guess I should have thought of that. Great diagram :)

I too have a weakness for sepia tones. I love the blurred effect of the second shot. I also love the diagram, thanks for the laugh.

Arby,
If you're so fond of this bicycle, why are you buying a new one? You write of true passion with your Bianchi.
Cheers, Wayne

X must be less than Y.

Also note that X should be roughly your shoulder width... otherwise your bike continues forth and you get wedged between two vehicles, no fun. Also Oury grips = the hottness.

I was in the LBS shooting the breeze a few days before Arby posted this, and I couldn't keep myself from drifting over to the Pista on the sales floor every few minutes. So simple yet so compelling. I knew from previous posts by Arby that he had a Pista (I think the post where he took off all the tape for a few days?), but I was surprised at the relatively low price when I looked at the tag. It looks to good to be that price!

I've got to say that the sepia shots are some of the best you've posted... don't get rid of the pista, in a few years you'll just be trying to find one again in some NOS-bin bazar on the internet just to relive these years. Surely money can't be an issue -- you still have one kidney more than you need, right?

great photos!

A+
