Hey all,

I was thinking of getting some tufo tubular clinchers, and was looking at their sealant. It seems to me that its just like Slime - which really doesn't work well with road tires. How is the Tufo product different - or is it?

Thanks,
Mike

The main way that it's different is the following: IT WORKS. Slime doesn't.

I'll second that precise sentiment. The best thing you can say about Slime is that it ruins presta valves. The Tufo sealant works pretty well - I use it in standard clincher tubes. Second best is the sealant that Specialize markets both in a bottle and in their Airlock tubes. Living where I live, I'd have 20 flats per mile if I didn't use one of those two.

The Tufo sealant is similar to a liquid latex and smells like ammonia. Actually, ammonia can be used to clean the residue if it hasn't hardened. The Tufo sealant will gum up presta valves but can be cleaned.

I use Stan's in my mountain bike tires (tubeless) and it works well. It's a latex product. I know little or nothing about Tufo's product but do know about Slime. Forget Slime, it's no where near as good as Stan's. Check out Stan's at http://www.notubes.com/home.php
