I have an 04 Pista with the black Truvativ chainring and cranks, which are a sort of compromise components. I want to swap out these cranks and ring for something more suitable to the track and fitting for a track bike. I'd love a full Italian track gruppo on this bike, if for no other reason than aesthetic.

The Truvativ cranks and chainring have a 130mm BCD which I think is not so common in track components. 144mm seems to be the standard. In order to put a Campy or Miche crankset and chainring on, I'd need to swap the BB to a non-ISIS style. The BB on the bike is a 108mm width. Do I need to keep to this width in order to maintain the proper chainline?

Are there any ISIS-compatible track cranksets?

I am thinking of running a 49 or 50T chainring and then getting the Miche cog kit/adaptor to allow for quick changes of cogs.

I am also thinking of getting a reasonably-priced track wheelset

Has anybody else upgraded components on the Pista? I know I should have bought the Pista Concept in the first place and I would have gotten all the right stuff to begin with. But this was a starter bike to get me going on the track and I like the fit and the retro look of the chrome frame.

Any input would be greatly appreciated!

I think the only option in ISIS track cranks are the FSA Vigorelli track cranks and they fit a 108mm ISIS BB.

Miche cranks are 135mm so if you want to go 144mm you pretty much need to get FSA, Shimano, Campy or Sugino cranks. Suntour Superbe Pro cranks are also 144mm if you can find a pair and some other old models are also 144mm.

Proper BB length depends on the choice of crankset. If you get the matching BB for a specific track crankset you will end up with the correct chainline.

From what Ive seen and haerd the FSA's are the stiffest, part of that is the ISIS spindle.

My Ti road bike is set up perfectly for me (fit, weight, components...) and I don't need to do anything to it. The Pista is my new toy and I loved riding it at the velodrome but it certainly could use some better parts. Come on.... everyone likes wrenching on a bike and if my geared bike doesn't need anything, why not tweak the track bike?
