Who did the Honolulu Century toda?. Dayamn--the weather was brutal. Hot, humid and the sun a scorcher. I got out to the turn around point averagin 19.1 but by the end of the day I was at 18.1.

The culprit--leg cramps galore on the way back---and after 8 lava salt capsules, 4 powergels, probably 4 to 6 btls of gatorade, bananas, oranges and cookies. I just leak salt like a seive--but today was really, really bad. So bad my blue selle italia flite looks pretty much bleached white!

Unlike 2 years ago where I didnt stop but for 1 flat and at the turn around pt, I made nearly every rest stop today. So besides being one tenth of a mph slower than 2 yrs ago--rolling wheels average; I got back an hour or more later what with all the annoying yet necessary stopping.

Was it me--or were the Japanese femme riders esp nice looking this year?

Oh and I'm sunburned to hell 2. mental note--remember to pack a sm btl of spf50 so as to reapply half way thru.

Yup--likely the most miserable day I've had on a bike--yet fun--hoohah!

I am currently sporting sutures in my scalp so I stayed home and watched football and Nascar. I did do the Dick Evans race a couple of weekends ago so I have scratched the century itch for this year. I am still commuting from Ewa to Pearl everyday, but can't imagine wearing a helmet for more than an hour. I get them out tomorrow.
