Help,
I need a new bike. I was riding the lovely rolling terrain of SE PA when my frame cracked. It is a pretty severe crack near the bottom bracket and I don't feel safe with a repair. Plus, I get a new bike.

I generally ride 100-150 miles a week. During the summer I add by doing 4-5 centuries. My cracked frame is a 2000 Pinarello Galileo w/ Veloce. It worked great and for 5 years and I had zero problems.

I am looking to spend between 1000-1500 for a frame or 2000-2500 for a complete bike. I want something a little less aggressive than a racing rig, but definately not in the market for a tourer.

The problem: there are lots of good bikes out there, but most aren't built for someone 6'3" and 260. I guess I would be considered a "masher."

I was told to stick to aluminum. Is this true? I was thinking about the Six 13 w/ Centaur. (It's a little out of the range, but maybe I scrape a few extra bucks). Or should I stick to a frame and build around it?

Any thoughts on a good bike/frame for someone that is truely large.

I think this would probably work for you.

How about a nice custom steel bike designed for your weight, build, and riding style. Pick any of a number of custom builders that will send you on your way for less than $1000 for the frame. I would probably start with Doug Curtlo, but a quick search on these boards will give you at least a dozen other guys that can do the job just as well.

Or, since you are in SE PA, how about Spectrum?
