Choosing the right gear for the summer months is pretty easy, but I'm wondering what the Austin roadies out here wear during the winter months? its seems like its starting to turn a little cold in the mornings... Long sleeves? Knickers? I dont have any of this stuff and need to know what i might expect to buy.

Thanks

I'm riding tomorrow AM (the VC Bagel Ride) and it's supposed to be in the low-mid 50s around 7am. In that temp range, arm warmers and full-fingered glove liners are my norm. I figure I'm dressed right if I stop shivering b4 we get 30 mins into the ride.

Me too. The problem with riding 3-4 hours is the temperature can increase 20-30 degrees. I prefer being cold at the start and take off the warmers and gloves.

i wear tights to protect the knees. I like arm warmers because they are easy to take off. Usually the first ride or two, like tomorrow, I tend to over dress and die. Tomorrow will be in the mid 50s when I start. I will wear tights, arm warmers and a wicking short sleeve undershirt. I have a light wind proof vest I might put on and take off during the ride. the warmes will come off at some point. I'm a little north of Houston.
