Howdy,

Will be in San Antonio the weekedn of the 25th and plan on riding my road bike on Saturday and Sunday. Can anyone suggest a couple of Tours starting downtown SA of 50 - 70 miles, a few hills are ok, rather roads than bike paths and (if possible) little traffic ?

Tall order I know... :-)

Otherwise... Any good web site that has info ?

I don't ever ride from downtown San Antonio but it would be easy to get out of the city using the bus. The buses all have bicycle racks on them. You could take bus #94 all the way out to IH-10 & Loop 1604 and start from there.

If you start from IH-10 & 1604 you could do either of the routes in
maps "Boerne one" or "Boerne two". The town of Leon Springs is about 6 miles from IH-10 & 1604. You could do a route up to Leon Springs across Boerne Stage road to Toutant Beauregard road up to the town of Boerne then down Old San Antonio road to Boerne Stage road back to Leon Springs and then back to IH-10 & 1604 to catch the bus. One of the maps shows a route going over to the town of Helotes and then going out Hwy 16 (Bandera road). The ride over to Helotes across Scenic Loop road is also very nice. You can go out Bandera road about 10 miles from Helotes but after that the shoulder comes & goes and also has trafic.
