I have a question for those of you using the Forerunner with the Training Center software. I've done a search and noticed some of you mentioning importing more detailed maps. How did you go about this? Is this something you imported into the TC software itself or did you couple the device into the other software? I've tried the read-me, right clicks, etc... Nothing seems to work.
Any suggestions on what works for you would be great. The software I picked up (very cheaply since it's used) is the Rand McNally streetfinder software. I can't seem to get it to pick up my GPS so neither way seems to work. Would another software work better? Also, if you use a third party software (motion based- which doesn't seem compatible yet, or sport tracks) does it seem to work better?
Thanks for any suggestions or tips,
Chris

Training Center will use the standard Garmin Maps such as US Roads and Recreation, Metro Guide, etc. There is a little pulldown on the TC menu that allows this to be set to the desired level of detail. You can view your workouts on the maps in TC, but you cannot download maps to the 301. Unfortunately, you have to buy the Garmin SW package to enable this.
I also have TopoUSA but I've not yet tried to import 301 data into it. My Vista works fine, the 301 might also.

I did some searching and found one called Sport Tracks (http://www.zonefivesoftware.com/). So far it seems to do what I want. Great maps available. Everything from google earth to street maps. I threw it on my laptop so I could try it out and not worry about messing anything up. I'll report back if it's any good at all.
Thanks.

The screen shots look pretty cool - thanks for the link. I too will check it out.
