Very nice bike. It's a rebadged Vitus Carbone....The frames did have a tendency to come part at the lugs.

Vitus made three models of the carbon frame. All three are basically Vitus 979s with carbon tubes instead of aluminum. The Carbone 3 had the main tubes as carbon and everything else aluminum. The Carbone 7 had the main tubes, seat stay and chain stays as carbon but an aluminum fork. Finally, you guessed it :) , the Carbone 9 also had a carbon fork.

I have one of these frames (in addition to the other Peugeot I mentioned in your seat post thread).

After acquiring it, I began reading stories about them coming apart and have been to scared to put it together. It's just hanging on the wall. 57 cm and very light.

For what it's worth, I've never heard of a catostrophic(sp) failure. The frame just starts feeling soft. When it's inspected, the seat tube has come un-glued from the lug.

That's not to say it won't happen..........

I'd buy one as a collectors item, hang it on the wall and consider it art. I love those things. :D

OT, BTW: I ended up finding another Peugeot that has a seat clamp and came with a seatpost. It's not quite the same though. It doesn't have any lugs :( (smooth welds) and is an HLE material? Anyone have info/history on this frame? Now my other Peugeot will probably just hang on the wall too. :D
