I had a serious issue with an "03 record long cage der. used with an FSA triple crank. After approx. 8000 mi. and immed.after installing the 3rd chain, I noticed that in the small crank ring (and any rear cog) there was considerable pull on the der. cage and the chain would run up the inside the small chain ring.......this would over-extend the rear der. as the chain doubled up and tried to track up the backside of the ring.....causing a seizing of the drivetrain. (small ring worn?)
It was as if there was pull from the small chainring that made the cage "hop" forward until this seizing occured.
I installed a Centaur long cage derailleur last night and the seizing problem disappeared, but I am having problems getting the shifting adjusted correctly.......I wonder if the two problems are related.
I cannot seem to get the Centaur der. to adjust correctly......It will adjust for one ring and then the cable tension will seem wrong for the other rings (i.e. being in-between cogs noise)
Q's: 1)hanger alignment?
2)adj. screw located under cage pivot?
notes: RR DRR cable runs straight & correctly onto fastening bolt, housing L correct.
tried old & new cassette, old & new chain
Thanks for any ideas!
