I have been riding my MTB for years and realized that I did more riding on the road with my MTB than on the trails. I decided to get a road bike to train on and try out some road racing. I purchased a Specialized Roubaix Elite. This is the first road bike I have ever owned. I am amazed at how different it feels; at how much easier it is to hold a decent speed. The different position is taking a little getting used to, however, it is starting to feel good.
The one thing I was worried about was how harsh the ride would be. Even when I did longer road rides on my MTB, like the MS150, I would prefer to keep the knobbies on rather than the slicks, because I could not stand how harsh the ride was. The Roubaix Elite feels less harsh than my MTB with a front shock and much wider and lower pressure slicks! I am truly amazed.
