I am thinking about building up a good set of race wheels for this Janurary.

Is anyone experienced with the Velocity rims?

There are many models. I was thinking of the Escape tubulars with Dura-Ace hubs and Sapim CX-Ray spokes.

Thanks for your thoughts.

I LOVE my Escapes. Hard-ish to find tho.

Took a big hit, put a divot in the rear, but its still rideable.

I have Velocity Deep-Vs and Aerohead OCR rims. They weigh slightly less than Mavic equivalents and are very strong. Don't have experience with any of their tubular rims though. Did I say they were very strong?

These are rock solid rims! I'm a big guy(220lbs) and with American Classic hubs and bladed spokes, these rims have worked for years. I found them to be some of the best rims out there with a real good price on 'em.

I built up a pair two weeks ago to replace my Reflex rims that were cracking at the eyelets and felt like mush in sprints. After 500 miles, these are great rims, durable, stiff and lots of road feel. I've got them laced three cross with DT competition spokes and Record hubs.

A good source is http://www.worldclasscycles.com/. The owner is really friendly and he sells the rims for 43.00 each. The Pro Elites are silver anodized/coated with machined sidewalls. With the 30mm height, they're aero, but a bit of a pain to build. Used a spoke to insert each nipple. Small price to pay.
