I posted some shots I took Saturday while hiking Kole Kole Pass with my six year old over on NCD. That was a mistake, the forum has turned into an on-line Seinfeld episode. I had some leftover shots and some of my favorites so I thought that I would post them over here. For the uninitiated, Kole Kole Pass is located on the island of Oahu and crosses the Waianae mountains from Schofield Barracks army base to a Naval Weapons depot on the other side. I have ridden it several times on the race bike, but never on the camera equipped commuter. I thought about PMing MB1 and asking him to move it over here, but I didn't want to set him off.

I like the Banyan (sp?) tree shot. I always like looking at those trees when in the Islands. Something cool about the way they grow. Where are those folks climbing to? Pretty steep in there.

I've come to think of this forum as more of the PBS or Discovery Channel. NCD is definitely Seinfeld but it provides some good laughs once in a while. It's great. We have it all. If I want to laugh I go to NCD, cry in disgust - Politics Only, just stare in sad shock - General Discussion.

Does that make the Beginners Forum=Comedy Central?

But with a WHOLE lot of reruns. Same episodes over, and over, and over. . . .

that reminds me, I'm an MTB rider and want to get into roadbiking. What bike should I buy? :)

Great pics and I'm glad to see them. I keep posting NC pics here because of the more pleasant atmosphere also, maybe this board needs a photography forum?

.... maybe this board needs a photography forum?

Perhaps but for now we will just make this our own "Photography Forum" and every so often include an image that includes something bicycle related.

The people climbing up the side of the mountain are off of the trail. My son wanted to climb up there, but climbing steep angles didn't pass the common sense test with a six year old. I watch the discovery channel too, never was a Seinfeld fan. I used to live on Ridgetop road in Washington State. Everytime I see your posts, it reminds me of how nice it was.

Hi Bill,
Really nice shots. When you think of Hawaii, you often forget how beautiful it is once you get away from the touristy areas. Gosh, the hills are really steep and dense with vegetation.
Cheers, Wayne

And this is the dry end of the island. Sometimes I forget about how great it is here. Riding on the road, you mostly see tourists in rental cars and locals in beaters. Occasionally you have to leave the pavement and go exploring to appreciate the landscape. Too bad the people here don't take care of the land, trash and graffiti everywhere.

Nice to know someone else reacts to NCD the way I do (at least what it's become in the last year or so). I can't give it up yet, because there are often posts that have some intelligence and thought in them, but you were spot on about Seinfeld. Gawd, I hated that show.

Oh, and I enjoyed your photos, too....
