Hey RBR,

I have a kinda stupid question:

Will coloring tire sidewalls with a Black Sharpie marker hurt the tires or durability?

I'm asking b/c I just got two sets of Veloflex Records, which have skinwalls, however my bike is just so sleek looking with black as my main color, I think skinwall colored tires will look a bit out of place.

Do you think the sharpie marker will cause any kind of chemical damage?

Yes i know i'm adding 3-4 grams of ink to the tires, but thats a risk i'm willing to take

Probably. There is a lot of alcohol in sharpie ink, and alcohol is a solvent. It is also corrosive to rubber.

Any alcohol is going to evaporate very quickly once applied. Check the Sharpie package and see if it has any warning statements. In this day and age you would think it would say on the package if it shouldn't be used for something.
