Swift boat his ass if you can, boys. Because here comes the end of your happy little tea party.

I never thought I would see the day a Marine would be advocating surrender and retreat.

Makes you think, doesn't it?

It makes me wonder. So far, Democrat leaders have not rushed to his ideas of how to get out. What he advocates is unconditional withdrawal, the idea of "Over the horizon" is double speak that he must have hated from politicians when he served. Over what horizon, where? If Dems sign on to it, they will have to explain just what this force should consist of and what they should respond to. Any quick response team would be so small and vulnerable to ambush it would be like Somalia again. Nope, it's a sell out and they can't couch it in softer terms and make it better. If that's the Democrats position, so be it. Just stand up and say so.

It also seems to me to be a timely attack of conscience. Bush just mounted a counter attack in which he said that those who had supported this action in the past and voted for it were trying to change history. Here we have a genuine hero, and he is for true, standing up and reversing course. Coincidence maybe but it is great timing for Dems who had been put on the defensive. :) I will be interested to see how this stuff plays out in the next couple of weeks.

He wouldn't say it unless the military was telling him to say it. This isn't a party thing. It puts US as a party in a bad spot. This is a shot across Bush's bow from the militeary itself. Remarkable.

Snake, you're one of the few right wing nuts here who actually think about these things. Check out Murtha and you'll see what I say is true.

I hadn't thought of it quite that way but it is a possibility The admin initially made some strident remarks but toned it down today. Strategy being rethunk. Like I said, the next couple of weeks will be interesting. You're right about the rock and a hard place.

It's really quite amazing. There's consternation in BOTH parties, believe me, my friend.

Well, you can see that. It remineds me of the time I had a flat tire on the rear wheel of my motorcycle at 70 mph. I wasn't in control and I didn't want to ride but getting off would have been disastrous. I'm not sure we can get off at this point so the alternative may be an increase of forces and an escalation but we've been down that road before as well. sounds like a good time to recognize that we are really all in this together and have some bipartisan think tanks and try to figure out where we want to go. Now there's a novel thought.

I think you're exactly right. I wish our President agreed with you and me on that.

I agree with both of ya, of course the military is using Murtha...they can't really confront the CIC. I think some of the more moderate republicans are also behind this, they can't really publicly break ranks, but using Murtha lends complete credence to this statement, and kick starts the debate. The Bush reponse has been disgusting. I hoped he'd have more class than that, but he's proven me wrong again.... I officially signed up with the American Reform Party today....in large part due to GW'S reponse to Murtha...I mean you can disagree with the guy, but you have to respect him, and using a junior senator from Oh to call him coward was disgusting...you know she was put up to it, she's a freshman, she doesn't think for herself....Disgusting..whole friggin thing....

BTW-Murtha within 2 rounds

This Murtha thing is HUGE. It's not a Dem thing, it's a military thing. The Repubs are FREAKED, and will desperately try to Swift boat him. Already are. Won't work. The Dems are freaked too, because they aren't prepared to endorse his position, but can't disown him either. Thumbs up their ass as usual.

Can't wait till Steam or kcpw cut-and-pastes some huge piece of fraudulent crap showing what a corrupt bas tard their formerly-favorite Dem is. I'm sure the smear machine is gearing up with talking points. The lights are burning late in some RNC basement.

PLUS, I can't wait to watch my own party crawfish sideways, sputtering, on Murtha's proposal. They're, unfortunately, chickenshit, unlike me.

I say: Bring those good boys and girls home.

The American people say: Bring those good boys and girls home.

The freakin AMERICAN MILITARY says, through Murtha: Please let us bring these good boys and girls home.

The Repubs say: Let's destroy Murtha!

The Dems say: Uh, we're not sure.

This nuts war is about to be over, the nuts Repubs are about the be lashed out of Washington, and the nuts Dems are about to bumble back into power with no idea what to do.

Why does everybody hate America?
