Man dies after possible hit-and-run in Fremont

FREMONT - An unidentified man died this morning at Eden Hospital in Castro Valley after a bicycle accident in Fremont that investigators are calling a possible hit-and-run collision.
The man, who will most likely have to be identified by his fingerprints, died at about 6:20 a.m. this morning, according to the Alameda County Coroner's Office.
Around midnight, passersby discovered the man lying unconscious next to his bicycle on Mowry Avenue east of Overacker Avenue in Fremont, the Fremont Police Department reported.
The Fremont Police Department responded to the incident at 12:39 a.m.
The preliminary investigation indicates that the victim may have been riding his bicycle east on Mowry Avenue when a vehicle struck him head-on and then fled the scene, according to the department.
