I am getting my first trainer this year and I was wondering what is a good tire for use on a trainer? I would prefer something that is not only durable but also relatively cheap. Thanks.

Continental makes a tire specifically for trainer use. Slick tread for smoothness, hard compound for long life. Butt-ugly yellow, but that's to remind you not to ride it - it wouldn't hold a turn. Retail is about $30, called the "Ultra Sport Hometrainer"
