Anyone have trail info for the orange county area?
Which trails are good for recreational cross?
Anyone know of groups that train together in OC?
Thanks.

Hi bm,
I'm learning about cyclocross, so I'm not sure what makes a good cross trail. I guess when I build my cross bike, I'll learn soon enough what makes a good cross trail... :D Hopefully, Santa's going to bring me money so I can buy a frame.
I've seen people on cross bikes at El Moro and Aliso Woods. I ride a lot in the mountains and I cannot recall ever seeing a cross bike.
Anyway, check out http://www.geoladders.com/routes.php
Most of the OC trails are mapped out in good detail, so you can get an idea what's out there.
The 2005 SoCal Cyclocross State Championships are being held in Irvine this Saturday. I've never been to a cyclocross race, so I don't know what to expect. I'm going as a spectator to check it out and maybe get to demo so bikes. Check out the flyer:

While looking for cross stuff I found a flyer for Tuesday night cross training rides in Mission Viejo:

Thanks AC. That's some good info you listed.
Funny thing, I went to last week's SoCalCX race as a spectator to see what it was like. Really neat to watch, but it looked like even more fun to race. I learned a bit watching, but I know i learn a lot when I race. And if you're a fit roadie and ride trails like I do, you'll be surprised how much you already know.
I do know about the Irvine race and I plan on going too. And I don't know for sure, but i think non-racing riders are allowed to ride the course during warm-up. Is this true guys/gals? Will be able to bring a bike on course and give it a try?
AC, I also found the same flyer about the Mission Viejo CX group. I emailed the contact on the flyer but no reply yet, so I don't know what the deal is. I'll let you know if I find out something soon.
