Looking to buy some inexpensive shorts, bib shorts, tights. I've been using performance brand elite bib shorts and although I haven't tried any others, they are fine for me. But what about supergo, nashbar, pricepoint and other company brands that are pretty cheap.
Any feedback is appreciated. :) ---Raw

I am one of the lucky ones here in that it doesnt really matter which shorts I use. As long as there is a chamios, I am pretty comfortable. I have tried many cheap shorts and a few expensive ones. My favorite cheap shorts are the REI Paceline. Nice quality of material and hold up well. $40.

I had some cheap REI shorts a few years ago that i hated. Im not sure if they were "paceline" but the chamois was just a super thin layer of foam. I don't know if it was just me but riding in them would always leave me sore. Like i said i don't remember what style of shorts they were, just that they were a lower end REI short. This was a few years ago, so im not saying don't check REI out, its a great store, but just be careful.
My favorite $40 short that i've tried is the Canari Gel shorts (i think they sell them at oshmans). I've had a few pair and I normally wear them when on the trainer or on short rides in the afternoon / evening, when having your good shorts on isn't so important. The only problem i have run into with these is that the elastic on the bottom of the legs can get just a little stretched after about 6 months, but i find if you just roll them up once (its what all the super cool, hairless roadies do anyway) it becomes a non issue.
I would recomend however getting at least one nice pair of shorts for longer weekend rides, your butt will thank you. I like the PI Ultrasensors for around $80, but don't go out and blow $300 on an assos bib. I guess if you can afford it great, but thats $300 for a freakin bib.

I have a few pairs of Voler shorts and really like them. They are not priced very fair (around $50) for the 8 oz material weight version. They also recently came out with an "elite" version of shorts and bibs and I love these even more... but they are a bit more expensive (around $85 I think). Check them out at velowear.com.
