I've been looking at older c'dale frames on ebay to set up a roadbike to train for mtb racing. I'm looking for a sturdy, cheap:) and relatively decent frame. One I was watching is item#: 7202455363. Does anyone know what year this one is or if it needs any proprietary parts like bb, crankset etc.

Thanks!

If your goal is to be a better XC offroader you'll probably need long slow rides on a road bike to build endurance. Don't buy an older harsh alluminium bike. Buy a nice semivintage steel bicycle. I bought an 8 speed full DA SLX bike for under 300 $. A tad heavy but very nice for long training rides.

Interesting you say that, as I currently have an '03 Steel Bianchi and was thinking that I should upgrade it to something a little more racey. Maybe you're right since 90% of my rides are slow and alone, I do most of my speed work on the road though.
