Does anyone know if you can use a Deda clip on with a carbon handle bar? Lacking that, I need a recomendation for a nice lite 26.0 handle bar. Long story: I just received a new Litespeed Teramo from Competitive cyclist and I HATE the bars/stem that came with it. I already own the Deda clip ons and I like them better than any others I have tried.

As far as I know, most carbon bar manufacturers, from what I've read in the past, do not recommend you clamping clip on aerobars onto the bars, as it could possibly cause failure. This is just what I've heard. And from most manufacturers, this seems consistent.
Actually, if you look into it a little more, most aluminum bars are a lot lighter than carbon bars, and just as strong as carbon bars, and a hell of a lot less expensive. So if I were you, I wouldn't clamp a set of clip on aero bars onto that carbon bar, also, just leave them off unless you're doing a TT or a triathlon or something like that.

From "Kestrel FAQ" (http://kestrel-usa.com/support/faq.php) -> "Care sheet - Road Bar" (http://kestrel-usa.com/support/docs/RoadBarCare.pdf):
Clip-on aerobars or similar clamp-on extensions may be used on "EMS Pro" and "EMS Pro/OS" bars. However, our ultralight "EMS Pro/SL" and "EMS Pro SL/OS" bars are NOT approved for clip-on bars.
I've got a pair of their regular road bars mainly for this reason. Haven't used them with clip-ons, yet.

I had the same problem last year regarding clamping aero bars to a carbon bar so I purchased the Pedalsoft Trifecta system for my Cannondale. The aero bars never touch the carbon bar at all which bypasses any safety or warranty issues of the carbon bar. The aero bars and elbow pads are also very easy to remove from the stem to convert back to road bike configuration.

Great system but $349.

I'm not disagreeing you. I justified it by taking into account that I would be spending anywhere from $125 - $250 on a clip on aero bar system anyway (depending on brand). I'll also add that the system is fairly lightweight considering you don't have the bulky bar clamps and chunky elbow rests like some systems do. Also, very easy to remove and put back on. Just a thought.

and hopefully I will be having one of these systems by the time I start timetrialing in Feb. I I am of the "power slam position " school of thought and maybe these will allow me to retain my current geometry. The website said they're out of stock.
