Christmas Warning From Moms Who Care
STOP HURTING OUR KIDS -- www.shokbikes.org

We are the parents of children who have been injured on bikes purchased at Wal-Mart and/or made by Dynacraft. Our sons and daughters have suffered permanent scarring, disfigurement, major bone and dental trauma, severe scraping and bruising, brain injury and ruptured internal organs. We have:
• Evidence of over 100 accidents
• Evidence of brain damage to children
• Evidence that accident reports were “thrown away” by Wal-Mart bike buyer

Some of us are currently involved in a group lawsuit against Wal-Mart and their distributor Dynacraft, and we intend to prove in court that:

• WAL-MART KNEW these bicycles were causing serious injuries and refused to act
• WAL-MART CONSPIRED with its importer Dynacraft to cover up these incidents & keep the problem hidden

In order to protect all children nationwide and to make a statement against corporate greed and public victimization, we are asking all parents and families: Don’t buy bikes from Wal-Mart.

As the world’s largest seller of children’s bicycles, Wal-Mart should ensure the safety of bikes they sell. Until Wal-Mart accepts full responsibility for the multiple accidents on their bikes, and ensures the public that they’ve stopped selling defective bikes, consumers should purchase their bikes elsewhere, preferably a local bike shop that can offer expert advice and personalized service. Bikes are not toys!

-----------------------------------------

Please pass this on to every parent you know. According to the National Retail Federation, bicycles are one of the Top 10 Gifts for Boys during the holiday season. Let’s save children from needless injury and hit Wal-Mart where it hurts until they Stop Hurting Our Kids!

I wish you the best on this one. Someone should form a group and go after companies like McDonald's etc. They, like other fast food...did I say food...restaurants are likewise killing our kids, but over a long period of time. Oh how the FDA and the Pharmaceutical companies are going to make a fortune in profits in years to come from the cancer and other deceases that eating that garbage produces.

If only parents would take their kids to a LBS instead of trying to find bargains that only end up as purchased junk.

...it's one thing to unknowing buy a defective piece of machinary from a multi-national
company, and quite another to make a decision to buy junk food.

Perhaps the parents should go to jail for feeding their kids junk food, but McDonalds is doing nothing illegal, whereas perhaps Wal-Mart is.

I sympathize with the parents on the bike thing. I truly hope they can do some good.

Re: McDonalds

It's nothing to do with legalities. If you did some research on what these kinds of foods do to the human body you would know what I'm damn well talking about.

...but it's not illegal. Maybe it should be. You have a choice as to whether or not to indulge, don't you?

Whereas unknowingly buying an unsafe product that a company knows is unsafe, that's a bit different.

I agree with you 100% with what you are saying. If one digs deep into what goes on behind the doors of these companies you will horrifyingly find out that they do know what they are doing. Believe me when I say that those individuals that control McDonalds know very well that what they sell is harmful to our health. Their prime directive is to make money, and lots of it. And they do. People have spent years researching what is going on. There are many examples of companies who have deliberately done things to their products to get us hooked, so to speak. We have all heard about what tobacco companies have been doing. Coca Cola is no exception. The bottom line for these companies is to make profits. And many are the ones that plainly don't care what they do to make these profits. Toxic chemicals are used to preserve French fries. Ingest these fries over a period of time will result in our bodies developing decease. That is just one example. At least we are very fortunate that there are people/organizations that take the time to research/test these things. From that we learn from these people will help us find other alternatives to what we eat etc. Should McDonalds and others like them be held responsible...damn right. But try to prosecute. You would spend a life time and a small fortune that you don't have trying to do so. Besides, there are organizations with a lot of clout backing these companies...FDA being one of them. To fight them would be like an ant trying to rape an elephant.

If these mothers really cared about children, they would be much more concerned that children are allowed in motorized vehicles. Approximately 1000 children under the age of 7 are KILLED (not just involved in accidents) every year while riding in motorized vehicles.

That's pretty cold.

I must admit that Wal-mart bikes don't rank up there with auto crashes, heart disease and cancer, but give them a break.
