For Immediate Release:

Boulder, Colorado December 21, 2005 - The TIAA-CREF/Clif Bar Cyclo-Cross Development Team is sending four riders across the pond today to spend the holiday season racing in the most competitive and relentless cyclo-cross series of the season throughout cross crazed Belgium and Holland. The trip will provide valuable preparation for the World Championships later in January as well as real world experience in the two week whirlwind that is the Christmas cross rush in Belgium.

Representing for the juniors will be Danny Summerhill and Alex Howes. Danny is coming off a Crank Brothers USGP Overall win as well as a National Championship win two weekends ago in Providence, RI where Alex placed second. The U23 flag will be flown by Troy Wells and Brady Kappius. Troy picked up an excellent victory at the US National Championships two weeks ago as well and Brady grabbed a well earned sixth place. All of these riders were selected as members of the US National Cyclo-Cross World Championship Team on the merit of each of their strong performances throughout the season.

These four will be joining a larger US contingent of cross racers selected and managed by US National Coach Geoff Proctor at his third annual Christmas “Cross Camp”. There will be full slate of racing on tap with six events in 12 days. The schedule stacks up as follows:

Diegem Super Prestige, Saturday 24 Dec
Hofstade, Monday 26 Dec
Loenhout GVA, Wednesday 28 Dec
Hooglede World Cup, Saturday 31 Dec
St Niklaas C2, Monday 2 Jan
Surheisterveen (Netherlands) C2, Wednesday 4 Jan

To help support Danny, Alex, Troy and Brady, BikeReg.com has been accepting donations through a dedicated fund raising page. The success of this effort has been overwhelming with contributions pouring in totaling $3000 to date. This page will be up and accepting further donations through January.

BikeReg.com is donating the service fees from pledges made via this page, so 100% of all donations will go directly to the riders.
