From my team coach:

Dates: Sunday, April 25 & Sunday, May 2
Times: 7:00 AM - Woman/Juniors, 7:35 AM - Men's B, 8:10 AM Men's A
Place: Lincoln Park - Loop of Lawrence, Wilson and Simonds
Parking: If you are driving you can park on Simonds either north of Lawrence or south of Wilson or you can park on Lawrence or Wilson west of Simonds
Prizes: none
Entry fee: none
Course: .5 mile "D" course with one small rise

These events are conducted under our club insurance policy. This is not a competitive event. No additional insurance fee will be collected.

We will have three groups and will run each group as a crit. The goal for these practices is to gain practice in criterium racing. Tactics are very much encouraged as are attacks, chases and sprints. There may be prime sprints during the events (no prizes for these either).

These practices are open to all, the more people who attend the better these practices will be. Helmets must be worn at all times. I reserve the right to pull anyone I want from these practices whom I deem detrimental to the practice. My determination is final.

Which club? Do the times mean that each event is 1/2 hour? When dropped, can we be wait a lap and continue? What's the best cross street from Edens/Kenedy? Foster? Irving Park? Do we need to be there early for 'registration' or such? Will you let me win?

Thanks Eric! I'm running a 5k on the 25th but am going to try to make the second one. Here's a map for everyones benefit (never heard of Simonds before so I had to do some digging).

Which club? XXX

Do the times mean that each event is 1/2 hour? I think so, yes.

When dropped, can we be wait a lap and continue? Dunno, but probably.

What's the best cross street from Edens/Kenedy? Foster? Irving Park? Irving Park - take it alllll the way to the end and then take a Left (North) on to Lake Shore Drive. The next exits are Montrose and Lawrence, I believe.

Do we need to be there early for 'registration' or such? No, but you might want to warm up.

Will you let me win? You can have the primes.

TF

On 48 hours notice, this is really just going to be five or six dudes going in a semicircle, I think.

I couldn't make it - pulled a muscle Sat. Did enough riders show to race in the fog?

There were only about 7 of us-all from XXX, it was abit chaotic as the park district scheduled a marathon to go through our track. It kind of felt like playing hockey in the street-- "runners!!," "race on!!" "runners!!" "race on!!" There will be another one this Sunday morning as well--same deal.

Here's the notice from our coach Randy Warren of XXX:

Practice Crit
XXX Racing-AthletiCo Practice Crit (all welcome – do not need to be a member to participate)

Date: Sunday May 2

Time: 7:00-9:00 AM, 7:00 AM – Women/Juniors, 7:35 AM – Men’s B, 8:10 AM – Men’s A

Place: In Lincoln Park along the Lakefront on a loop consisting of Lawrence (4800 N), Wilson and Simonds

What: This is a great opportunity to practice your criterium skills in a low-key environment. No entry fee, no prizes, just pure fun! Last week we had 2 XXX Racing water bottle primes courtesy of Eric Weisenburger, who knows what will happen this week?
