The nesting season is over now, but I'm searching for a way of avoiding magpie attacks. I lived in Qld for 2 yrs and got daily attacked by a magpie in a park in the GC from sep-Nov. Now back in NZ and it's the same here, only they're not protected in NZ so can be shot...

I've tried eyes on the helmet, they're not that stupid. If you know aprox where they live and look around for them they're wary, but are cunning and can get you when you least expect... anyone found out a way to stop them (other than a shotgun?)

Best story - a guy in the cycling club here got attacked and the magpie got it's head wedged in an airvent in his helmet...

Maybe there's a way you could mount body heat-seeking missles on the back of your seat tube? :D

I tried this, but it took out my training partner, seems he was hotter than the magpie.

Ride in the middle of the bunch. Also works for dogs and kids. I think the ancient Greeks called it a Phalanx...
