I commute on a Surly Cross-Check. I've used 35c tires with full fenders. You've got clearance. How fat are you gonna go?

The monkey would be the right choice if you wanted a 29"er or disk brakes. Otherwise, it's overkill for commuting since they offer the Cross-Check and the Steamroller.

and its great. but, I sometimes wish I had something I could ride stairs and other similair nonsense with. I wouldn't be running discs so the difference is just frame geometry. and about a pound of extra steel. maybe Ill throw some mutonoraptors and flat bars on the crosscheck for a bit first.
