Been thinking of getting a pair of R215's, but there's no local shops that carry them, so online i go.

I wore a pair of carnac lemonds/legends for years, and the roomy toebox that the 215's are supposed to have appeal.

I'm curious as to how they fit - do they run small, large?

My lemonds were 42s, and I'm currently riding Quartz that are 43s, but are slightly large.

Not sure if 43s for the R215's is the way to go, or 42.5s.

thanks in advance

I had a pair of size 43 Carnacs a while ago, in Shimano, DMT & Sidi I take a 44. I'd say 43, but try DMT first. They are the nicest shoes plus their customer care is second to none. I bought a pair of Ultimax Carbons in a sale in Italy last October. After a few rides the heel was coming away from the sole. They collected the shoes from me, repaired them & returned them to me in 7 working days. I had no receipt and the shoes were the 2001 model!

Since shoes can be make or break on fit. I'd find a shop that will order them for you. A LBS here will order shoes, brands they don't normally carry, with a try it on policy. If it fits great, if it doesn't they'll get you the right size, with no re-stocking fee. You could also try Performance or similar that have a no hassle return deal. You pay shipping, but you get the right size too. Best of uck and let us know how it works out! :)

I am a perfect snug fit in a Sidi 43.5. I used Carnac Quartz in 43 for one season, they were a good fit but perhaps just a tiny bit large, however a 42.5 was too short and my outer two toes would hit the toebox edge. I used the R215s last year in 43.5 and they were a good fit. I could have possibly squeezed a 43 but in reality I am probably a 43.25 in the R215s. I just found them too darn stiff but they are a well-built shoe.

My feet are average width, high arch and high instep.

I would definitely rule out the 42.5 for you, probably 43 is your number.

sounds like we have the same feet. almost exactly the same feet, apart from the shimanos. i managed to try a pair of 42s and 43s today. no 42.5s in stock. the 42s had my toes rubbing, and the 43s left me with plenty of room, so i'm still curious about the fit of the 42.5s. guess i might have to either risk it, or try another shop.

thanks for the input

My Carnac's are a 44.5, 45.5 in Sidi and 45.5 in Shimano. Go for the 43.

i ended up going for a pair of 43s (for a great price on jensonusa.com, 30% off)

finally decided when i was on my rollers today and realized that my quartz's were slightly big, but didn't feel as big when i was on the rollers, and my feet started to swell with the heat and effort. i figured trying a pair of shoes on in the shop (in december) wasn't quite the same as riding in them (during the summer). so let's hope that the 43s are the way to go.
