Hi, I noticed Campy doesn't seem to make any cassettes in the 11-27 or 12-27 combo. Is there any aftermarket or other manufacturer cassettes I can use on a Campy splined wheel? I also have both short or medium cage derailleurs if that matters.
thanks.

if you're talking 10 speed campy get the 12x25 or if you absolutely need the 11 and are a strong climber get the 11x23. The aftermarket ones are available, but they don't work as well. If you need some more gear for hills then go for the medium cage der and the 13x29. What is your intended use? most people don't "need" and 11 at all. I find the 12x25 cassette to be plenty good here in CO for general riding, but the 13x27 better if you're planing on lots of hills.

I'm partial to the 13-26 myself. I don't much care about the 12 but get the 18t in trade, giving 1 tooth jumps through the 19. Since I spend 70% of my in the middle of the cluster, this is much more useful than the very occasional use of an 11 or 12. I'm not a racer any more either so that might sway your decision.

Cycle Dynamics will give you whatever cogs you spec. BUT their cogs are ti. I use one of the CD cassettes and it shifts at least as well as the Campy centaur cassette I used before.

The do work as well as the Campy cassettes. It will wear faster than a ti/steel Record cassette but the purchase price is less than a Record ti steel and you can replace the cogs individually. The most used cogs last between 2,000 to 3,000 miles, about the same as a chain.

Well Campy does not make a 27t cog. If you climb a lot and need the extra teeth then look to the offered 13-29. If you only hit the occassional climbing wall and can make it up with a little extra effort then consider the 13-26 combo to get you to almost a 27t and gain an 18t cog.
Buy the Centaur or Veloce level cassettes which are primarily loose cogs and you can create a custom combination. In addition these level cassettes are significantly cheaper. For instance if you wanted a 12-26 you can use your current stock 12-25 and swap out the 25t and substitute a 26t cog. You could also mix half of a 12-25 with half of a 13-29 to get a custom 12-29 if you dont mind losing a 16t cog. Don't get too excited about the ramping as it is not too noticable when you are riding mixed cassettes. You can buy individual cogs but you may find it cheaper in the long run to just get a cassette.

agree...(noticed I made the mistake of typing the nonexistent 13x27 below. I now use the 13x26 and have no problems getting up hills. If I get above 35MPH I just coast anyway. Used to use a 12x25 when I was doing some racing and it worked fine. Now that I don't race I'd rather have the other cog for climbing.

get the cheaper steel, the others wear fast. 13x26 or 12x25 for me and I'm a big boy.
at just shy of 6'5"and around 225 I ran a 53/39 with a 13-26 up Mt. Palomar (17 miles 4850 or so feet) final 7 miles av. I think 7.7% and I survived.

The shifting is fine and a short cage RD works fine too.
