I ride with the same guys 9 months of the year and it can get pretty competitive. Over the 3 months of winter some of us spin, some play squash and I do as much winter riding as I can. Come spring we find out who's faster. I've just bought a cross bike and put fenders on it. I am starting to get some reasonable milage in with the mild weather we are having. The key is, I haven't told anyone about the new bike or the riding. I don't want to motivate anyone to ramp-up their winter programs. I want to suprise them in April on the first few hills.

Anyone else into this kind of deception or am I the only jerk (my buddies excepted as their is at least who pulled a similar stunt last spring).
