I was involved in a crash today while riding (me and a car and the car won but I survived just banged up my left leg) and bent my front wheel pretty bad. Still managed to ride home. I really don't have the financial backing to get a new set which is what I would like to do. I currently am running the Mavic Cosmos and would like to upgrade to the Mavic Ksyrium Elite's. But only the front. I know this is taboo but are there any disadvantages besides looking like a Fred!

Don't worry. So you look like a Fred. Time trialists do this all the time.

A lot of guys often run a Mavic Cosmic Carbon in the rear and a Ksyrium SSC SL tubular up front, nothing wrong with it.

If you're fast enough, who can see??? And when you are stopped and anyone makes a comment, blow them away to shut them up. A "Fred" is only someone who can't back up their ride/bike.

Just make sure that you are Campy or Shimano compatible both ends.

Just kidding.
