I debated whether I wanted to watch Bush tonight or not. Just listening to him babble tends to raise my blood pressure. I think I'll tune in but I'm laying in a good stock of Makers Mark beforehand.

I'm guessing there is an episode of some variation of Law & Order on, so I'll probably watch that. Actually, I have a bunch of stuff on Tivo to catch up on.

Bush is a terrible speaker, and I don't believe most of what he says, so I don't see the point of watching. I can save a lot of time and just read the speech afterwards.

I don't have the attention span that's required to sit through a local weather braodcast long enough to hear what they think is going to happen tomorrow. State of the Union isn't for people like me.

State of the Union isn't for people like me.I'm the same way. Now, if I could interrupt and ask questions and get answers, then I would do it. But to just sit there and listen to long stretches of meaningless political babbling, no way. This went for the previous State of the Union address by other presidents. Of even the numerous Quarterly Meetings I've been forced to attend at the companies I worked for.

Hey, maybe he'll renew his war on steroids? What a fool!

What's new? What can a lame dick of a president deliver? More "fearfest 2006?" Unless he announces a scheduled redeployment and standing down of our forces in Iraq, there is not one thing that will be new.

His moronic smugness is what kills me.

I'll be reading "American Vertigo."

Torture. Just getting through all the applause is a horror in of itself. George Will wrote in today's column that the last one was interrupted with applause 63 times in 53 minutes. Or once every 48 seconds.

That my friends is a passer. Star Trek reruns and the rollers for ol' Sintesi tonight

I always tell myself I won't but I usually end up watching them.

Same--that's why I'm laying in a bottle of Makers Mark--just in case I need it! I must be a masochist.

by mixing it with a quarter ton of bull$h!t? if you need booze to deal with it, may I suggest somethingf more suitable in say a Thunderbird?
Yeah probably true. Listening to the shrub might make it taste all funny....

//never been much of a bourbon fan, but now getting into it.

//tried some Knob Creek the other day--think I like it better than Makers. nice and sweet and really full-bodied.

has lower Wheat Content, makes it a bit less sweet and light. Of all the Small Batch Bourbons, Knob has the most Sour mash vibe

Why watch when the speech is already out?
