View Full Version : Cindy shoots! She scores! Sintesi 02-01-2006, 01:41 PM I thought it was at least against the rules. Nope! http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/11120353/ Well good for her then. atpjunkie 02-01-2006, 02:09 PM and W was saying he liked debate. hmmmm remove a dissenting opinion by arresting her, then release her because in reality she broke no law. Len J 02-01-2006, 02:15 PM and W was saying he liked debate. hmmmm remove a dissenting opinion by arresting her, then release her because in reality she broke no law. she was released specificially because the Rep Congressman's wife wasn't arrested for the same thing.........the only difference was Cindy's said "2,242...How many more?" & Young's T shirt said "Support our Troops" The administration had egg on their face, this is an attempt to clean it up. Len svend 02-01-2006, 02:19 PM The administration had egg on their face, this is an attempt to clean it up. I could say that they had something else on their face.......but I won't..... drevelo66 02-01-2006, 02:22 PM she was released specificially because the Rep Congressman's wife wasn't arrested for the same thing......... Len You got that right...and believe me, Cindy Sheehan was not treated "roughly" as she describes; I will say, she carried herself with more dignity than Cong. Young's wife did. Live Steam 02-01-2006, 02:35 PM So she was 'lying' about the rough treatment? spyderman 02-01-2006, 03:03 PM You got that right...and believe me, Cindy Sheehan was not treated "roughly" as she describes; I will say, she carried herself with more dignity than Cong. Young's wife did. hey drev, don't you work in the Capitol? atpjunkie 02-01-2006, 03:06 PM So she was 'lying' about the rough treatment? Sheehan Lies (or heresay that sheehan lies) - and steam perks up any Con Lies - Steam Silent as a graveyard don't look now your hypocrisy is showing pathetic Ridgetop 02-01-2006, 03:20 PM She was busted by the capital police. These guys are usually pretty neutral and fair (as can be seen by the removal of the 'Pub wife). Now, I was surprised that Sheehan was charged but as more comes out it's because she refused to cover it and told them no about getting up when they asked her to. The 'Pub wife waited to yell about it until they were out of the gallery. Also, from the pics taken as they escorted Sheehan out she wasn't in cuffs, there was one man with his hand on her elbow. She didn't get any mistreatment and was trying to get publicity. At one time I may have felt sorry for her but she's just one of the numerous cause zealots from both sides. She likes the attention. I also think both of the women need a good lesson on appropriate attire for such events. I don't care who's in charge or president. When you go to a State of the Union address keep your protesting or political rallying outside for just an hour or two for crying out loud. You can show your love or hate by clapping or not clapping with the rest of the sheep for a while. spyderman 02-01-2006, 03:22 PM So she was 'lying' about the rough treatment? Nor does Steam have a problem with the supression of the freedom of speech within the very CAPITOL building of the United States of America? Like I said, you'd be better off in the Peoples Republic of America. drevelo66 02-02-2006, 09:58 AM hey drev, don't you work in the Capitol? Yes sir; See the other thread. While security is higher than normal during SofU, the key reg we worry about is "Disruption of Congress." We can argue Sheehan's sartorial taste all day, but the time to give her grief over it was prior to going in, and then, should she stand up and yell, there's our cue. However, this didn't happen, and there is a lot of fingerpointing and FEMA style blame-gaming going on here. We looked bad, and we have ourselves (Cap Police) to blame for not insisting on clarification of regs in the galleries. And then when we make an attempt to be evenhanded, we screw that up by letting Mrs. Young off, only to have her say that we are insulting the troops. As a Marine reservist that just came back from active duty and an officer whose job is protecting her, I have more animosity towards her than I'll ever have towards Cindy Sheehan. Just me letting off steam.... svend 02-02-2006, 11:59 AM And then when we make an attempt to be evenhanded, we screw that up by letting Mrs. Young off, only to have her say that we are insulting the troops. Just me letting off steam.... Well said.......now waiting for the cons to try and swiftboat you...... magnolialover 02-02-2006, 12:52 PM I think that one should remember proper "attire" for these events, and yes, if they want to hear something that only happens once per year, dress appropriately, sit down, listen, clap and stand when you feel like it, and sit on your hands the other time. I don't like George W or his administration, but I would have liked to have been in the gallery for the SOTU. Why not? How many times do you get to do that? For many of us, probably not many, or at all. As Drevlo said before, they were trying to be even handed, and I believe that. I don't think the Capitol Police were out to get Sheehan, or the Congressman's wife. It's too bad that one got arrested and one didn't. If there was really complete even handedness, the Congressman's wife should have got hauled into the pokey as well. Rules are rules, if their shirts were against the "rules", then they should be charged (if there is something to charge them with), if there isn't anything to charge them with, they should have been left alone right? It wasn't proper dress attire for the event, but was it illegal? spyderman 02-02-2006, 01:14 PM Civil disobedience is the best way to get your point across especially when you don't have a voice at the table. Sure, every logical person knows to don the formal wear at such an event, but it takes a couragous person to make a subtly powerful statement. Score another one for Sheehan for changing the topic and stealing Bush's headlines. That's power and it pisses off her sexist opponents. :) Rock on Cindy, rock on! drevelo66 02-02-2006, 02:06 PM Well said.......now waiting for the cons to try and swiftboat you...... LOL...Maybe I'll be this forum's John Murtha. Not to continue to drag this out, but shortly after I posted this afternoon, I returned to my traffic assignment and saw Cong. Young. He seemed pleasant enough, which tells me that his angry rant about his wife's shirt was either A) Politically motivated, siezing a press moment, or B) His wife made him do it... Either way, the rank and file feel burned by upper management, because in my 8 years on the department (6 at the Capitol itself), noone has ever given me a solid answer on regulation and law pertaining to the galleries, because I want to have a good reason if I must tell you not to do something, as opposed to "Cause I said so," which is unacceptable. I believe my questions will be answered now. Bocephus Jones II 02-02-2006, 02:36 PM “They said I was protesting,” Young told the St. Petersburg Times. “I said, ‘Read my shirt, it is not a protest.’ They said, ‘We consider that a protest.’ I said, ‘Then you are an idiot.”’ No Cindy, you are the idiot. Mocking and exploiting the deaths of US Veterans in War with a cheesy tee shirt at the State of the Union address? I was told by the Libbys of PO, about two months ago, that Sheehan was officially a thing of the past, too far to the left, a freak who had her 15 minutes in fame. Now she resurfaces and people jump on her wagon. About three months ago she could not get an audience and the Left walked away from her. She is a pansy and a patsy. Read your son's letters for all to hear Cindy!!! Read the truth, if you can handle the truth. Watch that spittle flying from your lips KP.....I'm getting soaked through the Internet. svend 02-02-2006, 02:53 PM Watch that spittle flying from your lips KP.....I'm getting soaked through the Internet. Yeah, he sounds like those shrill girlie men he is always harping on and on about.....hmmm, he must be one at heart hence his shrill protestations to the contrary....... rocco 02-02-2006, 03:10 PM You tell'm, K! morrison 02-02-2006, 03:23 PM Read the truth, if you can handle the truth. Are you trying to quote Nicholson? I preferred, "Just put it in the hoop, Chief." dr hoo 02-02-2006, 03:23 PM “They said I was protesting,” Young told the St. If you are going to rant, please at least try to form your rant in such a way as it makes sense EVEN in the logic of YOUR world. The quotes you provide from YOUNG are what the REPUBLICAN was saying about HER t-shirt that said "support the troops." Sheehan=/=Young. morrison 02-02-2006, 03:26 PM I liked "Go sell crazy elsewhere; we're full here." (Or to that effect.) Or, "You can't have me, I'm taken, . . . by ME!" drevelo66 02-02-2006, 03:27 PM Are you trying to quote Nicholson? I preferred, "Just put it in the hoop, Chief." I liked "Go sell crazy elsewhere; we're full here." (Or to that effect.) rufus 02-02-2006, 03:38 PM ummm, kp, that was Cong. Young's wife you're quoting there, not Cindy Sheehan. her shirt said, "support our troops". calm down, take a deep breath, and relax a bit, before you burst a blood vessel in your brain. drevelo66 02-02-2006, 03:45 PM I'm also sick of "I support the troops" from both sides. The troops don't want your support; they want your daughters when they come home! Want to support the troops? Enlist. morrison 02-02-2006, 03:49 PM Whatever, the Democrat's association with Sheehan is reason # 1,001 why they will not win in 2008 :) And your rants are reason number 1 you will never convert anyone to your point of view. rufus 02-02-2006, 03:50 PM Whatever, the Democrat's association with Sheehan is reason # 1,001 why they will not win in 2008 :) caught being the idiot himself, and he just brushes it off like it doesn't make a difference. listen, if you can't even get the quote correct that forms the basis of what you're ranting about, how do you expect anyone to take you seriously? morrison 02-02-2006, 03:56 PM I'm also sick of "I support the troops" from both sides. The troops don't want your support; they want your daughters when they come home! Want to support the troops? Enlist. I have a grey ribbon magnet on my car. If you look at it closer, though, it's actually a belt, and it says "support your pants." Every once in a while, I get a laugh out of it, but some of the red staters shoot me the finger, too. Of course, that may be because I'm driving to slow. drevelo66 02-02-2006, 03:56 PM I have a grey ribbon magnet on my car. Of course, that may be because I'm driving to slow. LOL...We tolerate those magnets, as a lot of family have them, but I also appreciate puns on them. Most of the Marines that I have debriefed from Iraq would have laughed like hell at that! spyderman 02-02-2006, 05:30 PM Considering how much your family has sacrificed, doesn't Cindy Sheehan, a good Irish-American mother, get her a certain amount of lattitude with you KPCW? IMO, she's entitled to say whatever she wants, for, or against the war. Personally, if I lost a loved one to this sham of a war I'd be just as pissed as Ms. Sheehan. It would amplify my anti-war feelings, and I'd be entitled. There are 2,250 military families who have made the ultimate saccrifice on both sides of this war. Of course, the ones against the war aren't very popular, but it doesn't make their position, or sacrifice, any less than those who support the war. And your pov could be altered as easily as one could change the time of the sunrise tomorrow... In other words, don't care if you are swayed or not. Do not care. Republicans rule the roost for now and the near future. |
