Hi Bikerboy!

Try the Red Ribbon Ride this August! It's a 2 day ride into Weston from Pittsfield. I did it last year and it was fun. I enjoyed training for that weekend and actually participating in the event.

My club actually has a team for this event. It's more fun training with a team for events like this. Depending on my summer school schedule, I'm thinking of doing it again this year.

Check it out.

You dont have to join the team to ride red ribbon but I encourage you to join Quad's training rides.

In addition to the Red Ribbon Ride, another option is the Great Mass Getaway or any of the MS rides. The GMG goes Boston to Provincetown, so day two is pretty similar to the PMC. They're all good, though.

One thing about the PMC, tho. If you're particularly interesting in the "classic" Sturbridge to Provincetown route, I'd suggest riding one of the shorter PMC routes now, because it's hard to get that route the first time. Returning riders are allowed to register earlier than first-time riders, and that route fills up fast. Thus, I rode Wellesley-Bourne-Wellesley my first year, but the next year I signed up for Sturbridge-Provincetown as soon as registration opened for returning riders in January.

Hi Bikerboy - Another great ride is the Seacoast Safari for Cystic Fibrosis - it is 150 miles over two days, and goes from Plum Island Airfield in Newburyport, MA up to Biddeford, Maine and back. The ride is fully supported, and is a beautiful, scenic route up the New England coast. In addition, unlike a lot of the bigger rides, the minimum fund raising level is only $250. If you raise $750, you get a free jersey. All fundraising goes toward the research efforts of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

Its a great ride, and a great cause - here is the website. http://www.jeknavorian.com/cf/index.html
